This week at Nursery, we have been busy developing our understanding of maths when busy exploring together! We have enjoyed exploring capacity through sensory play experiences and had lots of fun completing puzzle boards as we identified patterns, sorted and matched.

We noticed where colours and shapes were the same or different when completing puzzles together. We developed our problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning and shape recognition whilst having lots of fun!

We showed a great interest in filling and emptying containers during sensory play experiences this week. Both indoors and out, we used water, mud and sand to develop our knowledge of capacity.

Maths is everywhere and we are learning so much from exploring our own interests in the world around us! We have continued to develop our understanding of routines and form friendships at Nursery. All of the children are settling really well into their key groups and we are very proud of them!

During our first few weeks of term, we have enjoyed settling back in as we welcomed back our returning children and welcomed new friends into our group. We have been very busy exploring our indoor and outdoor provision with the help of our key workers, as well as becoming familiar with our daily routines.

We have enjoyed taking part in settling in sessions with our families, where we were introduced to our key workers and new friends. We decided where we wanted to play and had lots of fun trying out new things with our special people.

When busy outdoors, we have enjoyed making music and experimenting with different ways to move by climbing, running and riding on the tricycles. Some of us enjoyed developing our understanding of the world around us through sand play and by experimenting with chutes and ramps. We also enjoyed sharing stories together in the Book Nook, where together we talked about what we noticed.

We also enjoyed exploring different ways to make marks this week and looking at books linked to our own interests. We showed collaboration when building a small-world safari and had lots of fun experimenting with ways to make water move together. We developed our enjoyment in sensory experiences through bubble play, where we watched the bubbles travel through the air and used our fingers to try and pop them!

We also enjoyed visiting our school orchard and picking apples from our Nursery tree!

What a fantastic start the children have all had! They have all been so busy and showed great confidence in exploring their own interests and the environment around them. Welcome and welcome back to our 2 Year Old Nursery children!
